Linnea Quigley - Fantasm 2019

The film can't end until the screaming stops. And to make sure that doesn't happen, Fantasm is pleased to announce Trash from The Return of the Living Dead, the World's Most Beloved Scream Queen, Linnea Quigley!!

Linnea Quigley is one of the world’s most famous Scream Queens of all time, named as such by her fans, as well as in numerous publications across the globe (including in Playboy Magazine in 2017, which named her “the sexiest scream queen of all time”.)

Barbara Linnea Quigley was born in Davenport, Iowa to Heath and Dorothy Quigley. Her Mother was a homemaker and her Father a noted psychologist and chiropractor. Always a shy child, her Mother encouraged her to take up gymnastics. After moving with her family to Los Angeles in the late 1970s, Linnea began working at a Jack Lalanne Spa. The beautiful ingénue was encouraged to try modeling and acting. She soon began getting small parts in commercials and B-movies, such as STONE COLD DEAD and WHEELER. Her breakout role was in RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD, which went on to become a cult classic and established her firmly as “Queen of the Bs.” Her reign is supreme with such films as PUMPKINHEAD II, SORORITY BABES IN THE SLIMEBALL BOWL-O-RAMA and NIGHT OF THE DEMONS. Linnea also is a musician and had a band for a number of years called THE SKIRTS. They cut a couple of popular albums before eventually disbanding, as Linnea wanted to focus full time on her acting career, as well as her numerous charitable causes.

Linnea is a devoted animal rights advocate and also leads a strict vegan lifestyle. As well as acting, Linnea also makes special appearances at Horror Conventions around the globe, where she is a fan favorite. Linnea’s THE HORROR WORKOUT is something dreamed up while working on a film. It became an overnight hit and still has a huge fan base, including fans dressing up like her as well as her film characters on Halloween, horror conventions, birthday parties, etc. She has written two books about her life in the B-movie industry, BIO & CHAINSAW and I’M SCREAMING AS FAST AS I CAN and is about to embark on her third book. Linnea also has conducted séances, reads Tarot cards and loves everything to do with white magic. Mysticism of all kinds has always enthralled her. After starring in more than 200 films, Linnea Quigley is will always be our favorite “Scream Queen”. Linnea has won numerous awards over the years for her work in film.

Whether you're sitting in a certain Boston bar absorbing beer and receiving questionable advice, shivering in a hangar on Hoth and overhearing that the shield doors must be closed or trying to find the Al of Al’s Toy Barn, chances are good you've heard of (or at least heard) our next Guest, John Ratzenberger!

John is best known for playing mail carrier 'Cliff Calvin' on one of the most popular sitcoms of all time, "Cheers." Cliff was known for his outlandish stories of plausible half-truths, irrelevant trivia, and ignorant misinformation, and was known for being an overall pretentious blowhard.

Sci-Fi fans world wide know John for his role as ‘Major Derlin’ in “Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back” and those same fans will recognize him from another huge franchise, “Superman 1 & 2”! Horror fans remember John as the swashbuckling electrician & adventurer, Bill Towner, from "House II" and the drummer in "Motel Hell".

In recent years John’s unique voice has taken him to a new realm where he is now recognized by kids of all ages for his various roles in the Disney/Pixar animated films. In fact, John is the only actor to voice a character in every single Pixar film ever made!

John will be making a rare appearance, joining us all weekend and will be both signing autographs and participating in a Q&A Session in Main Events.

Did you think we were done yet? You don't stop running until you can't hear the chainsaw anymore! Just ask our next Guest: Caroline Williams!

Caroline began her career in Texas, co-starring for Louis Malle in his Corpus Christi-based film, Alamo Bay (1985). Shortly after, she moved to Dallas and furthered her career, with co-stars, in The Legend of Billie Jean (1985) (dir. Matthew Robbins) and Getting Even (1986) (dir. Dwight Little). When Tobe Hooper and L.M. "Kit" Carson began casting for the sequel to Hooper's iconic The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974), they discovered the punkass actress, who ran screaming down the hallway of the casting office. She burst into the room, pulled the chairs from beneath the duo and played the brief dialogue, while huddled in a corner. In that often told moment, she won the role from 440 actresses from both coasts.

After escaping Leatherface, she moved to Hollywood to continue her career in a mix of horror: Stepfather II (1989) (dir. Jeff Burr), Leprechaun 3 (1995) (dir. Brian Trenchard Smith) and mainstream films: Days of Thunder (1990) (dir. Tony Scott), How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000) (dir. Ron Howard). She continues to split her efforts between series TV guest star roles, such as Grey's Anatomy (2005) (dir. Debbie Allen) and The Mentalist (2008) (dir. Charles Beeson).

Caroline will be joining us all weekend. She looks forward to meeting her fans and will be participating in the Q&A Sessions in Main Events.

The Story So Far:
In a time not long before the Week of Nightmares, a great thing has happened for the Camarilla. For the first time the entire South East region of the United States has been purged of Sabbat threats.

This calls for Celebration!

The Prince of Orlando has hosted a gathering under the guise of a Convention, FANTASM, for the power players of all the major cities in the South East. Rumor has it that even certain members of the Justicariot will be there to offer their own personal congratulations.

With this many elders gathering in one location, what could possibly go wrong?

Jewel Shepard began her acting career with roles in the enjoyably lowbrow pictures Raw Force (1982), Zapped! (1982), The Junkman (1982) and My Tutor (1983). Shepard gave a delightfully brash performance as the sassy and sarcastic "Casey" in the fantastic horror zombie comedy The Return of the Living Dead (1985). She was likewise quite funny as "Crystal Landers" in both Hollywood Hot Tubs (1984) and Hollywood Hot Tubs 2: Educating Crystal (1990). Other memorable roles are wealthy playgirl "Christina" in the late-night cable-TV soft-core favorite Christina (1984) (aka "Christina"), "Dyanne Stein" in the amusing Party Camp (1987), ditzy prostitute "Wanda" in Roots of Evil (1992) and prison inmate "Amanda" in the sleazy babes-behind-bars opus Caged Heat II: Stripped of Freedom (1994). More recently, Jewel popped up in a small part as a hooker in the terrific independent movie The Cooler (2003). Outside of acting, Shepard has had a career as a writer and has penned articles for such publications as "Details", "Premiere" and "Cosmopolitan". She has also contributed special features to the Associated Press. Jewel Shepard authored the B-flick queen interview chronicle "Invasion of the B-Girls" and the often hilarious tell-all autobiography "If I'm So Famous, How Come Nobody's Ever Heard of Me?".

This is so awesome we couldn't wait to share it with you!

It's been 40 years and five films (and we're still not convinced the war with The Tall Man is over). To help guide us through the past and into the future Fantasm is pleased to announce that legendary Phantasm screenwriter/director/producer Don Coscarelli!

Shot on a very modest budget, Phantasm (1979) was hotly received by horror fans worldwide and the film has since spawned four sequels: Phantasm II (1988), Phantasm III: Lord of the Dead (1994), Phantasm IV: Oblivion (1998) and Phantasm: RaVager (2016).

Apart from the Phantasm series, Coscarelli also wrote and directed the popular swords and sorcery film The Beastmaster (1982) starring athletic Marc Singer and the eye-catching Tanya Roberts being pursued by villainous high priest Rip Torn.

In 2002, Coscarelli cast horror & fantasy film screen hero Bruce Campbell in the highly off-beat Bubba Ho-Tep (2002) that depicts Elvis and John F. Kennedy hiding out in a Texas rest home where the residents are being attacked by a 3,000 year old cowboy boot wearing mummy trying to bring itself back to life! The film was an immediate indie and horror hit at several film festivals and has spawned a further cult following for Coscarelli and Campbell.

Coscarelli has carved himself a true cult niche in modern horror film history, and his loyal fans eagerly await his next project. Join us at Fantasm where you'll be able to meet Don and ask him about his career and film work in person!

Mike Christopher is best known for his portrayal of the Hare Krishna Zombie in the 1978 classic horror movie “Dawn of the Dead” directed by George Romero.

Originally, a synthesizer/keyboardist performing with a bald, space themed theatrical band named FLUID, he already had the look when Romero cast him for the role of a Krishna devotee turned by the zombie outbreak. His pivotal role caused Fran, the female lead, to reassess her situation and decide to learn how to shoot weapons and fly the chopper.

Shortly following the release fo Dawn, he moved to Los Angeles to work within a variety of media types. He performed laser light shows with Laserium and Laser Media, became lead audio tech for Oberheim and Kurzweil Synthesizers, worked as a session musician, colorized  black and white movies then helped to expand quality control operations for 35 mm film to digital videotape mastering.

In 2008, he was surprised to learn “Dawn of the Dead“ had become wildly popular and began appearing at Horror Conventions while making cameo appearances in Herschel Gordon Lewis’ “The Uh-Oh” Show” as a ticket scalper, a truck mechanic in the remake of “Plan 9 From Outer Space” and as a director of a Psychiatric institute in the yet to be released prequel “Night of the Living Dead: Genesis”. Michael’s only lead role to date is “Joe Vampire”, an ultra low budget movie filmed in the Tampa Bay Area.

Currently living in East Central Florida, he has returned to his musical roots, composing music in his home studio and providing occasional music for motion pictures.

Director Jesse Burks is a practicing surgeon who fell in love with filmmaking, quite by accident, in 2011. His first three films: One Please, Cured, and That Unusual Brick currently have over 14 million views online in under 2 years.

In addition to being oddly weird stories, Jesse's films have no dialogue and rely heavily on sound, music, and photography as characters in their own right.

Besides having the pleasure to work with the legendary Michael Berryman on 3 of the 4 films, Jesse is known to badger close family members (wife, sons, nieces, etc.) to be in his films - which proved to be a wonderful stroke of luck - because their dedication, and undiscovered acting abilities, helped create something special.

Also, not being a classically trained filmmaker, Jesse can never thank his crew enough for their talents and experience. Without them, the stories about babies, and guillotines, and mimes, and drills, and ice cream, and blood, and vacuum cleaners, and small bits of bone, and forehead skin...would never have been told.

Jesse will be screening his films in a special presentation at FANTASM with special guest Michael Berryman! Don't miss out!
